Greetings.

Can you please identify the tie knot Obama has on this picture? For some reasons, I have never managed to get such a cool looking curve on my tie knots. How can I do that?

Regards,
Interface.

Looks like a 4 in hand neatly done on a tie with a decent body to it. Not all ties tie equally! Also, I've tied better knots than that!

It doesn't have any lift to it, feels a bit two dimensional.

I'm not sure it is a FIH. Looks very very symmetrical for a FIH.

I'd say a 1/2 windsor with a somewhat thin tie.

Yeah, I might agree with that. A half-windsor with a Hermes tie gives me the same effect.

The knot is mice.

You can't duplicate it.

It 's a creation of liberal elite photographers.

when i do my plattsburgh knot and instead of just pulling the tie through the knot on the last go around, i pull it through but tighten the top. the knot looks more asymmetrical

What knots do you typically use, yfyf? I agree, you tie a great knot. Currently, I use the Pratt knot.

That's a Presidential knot, that's what it is.

And I get that with just one of my ties when I go for a four-in-hand, I still can't figure out why. It seems to be made of 'denser' silk than my other ties--does that even make sense? I inherited it, so I'm kind of grasping here.

Thanks all. I'm also beginning to think it is half-Windsor. Just tried doing half-Windsor of one of my ties and the results seem similar at first glance. However, if I want the knot to look nice I always end up getting the narrow end below the wide end. If I try to avoid that, the knot becomes ugly (ugly meaning more precisely, in this case, that the tie has not started to get wide at the "end" of the knot itself) . Have you ever had such annoying tie vs. tie knot incompatibilities? Man. Any ideas?
